This may not matter to some folks, but unless you don’t mind being played with, used, and thrown under the bus when you’ve served the needs of the Office of Haw...aiian Affairs then by all means stay with the fake cheers of the Old Guard, Trustees now claiming to support OHA’s CEO. Make no mistake. The Office of Hawaiian Affairs is an American Institution advocating and promoting “native Hawaiians” in a foreign aka ‘American jurisdiction.’
This in-fighting at OHA, in part, is the cause-and-effect of good-natured - pono Hawaiians in an American system designed and operated for the interest and benefit of American society, period. To some of us out here, we see is this hakaka as a dividing of our lahui – making it easier to conquer Hawaii’s resources.
The OHA ‘knives-in da-back’ are U.S. Federal Recognition aka Akaka, Bill, Kau Inoa, Kana’iolowalu, proposed DOI Rule Change of 2014, Support for the TMT Telescope on Mauna Kea, Nai Aupuni, etc. – These are just a few of the secret and shifting deals made over the years by former OHA Chairpersons and Board of Trustees behind our backs. And don’t forget, all the while Trustees were claiming to be working for your interest. Remember, the knives we already have in our backs now are from some current and former OHA Trustees.
This beef between Trustee Akana, other board members, the CEO, the Administrative staff, former trustees does not help Hawaiians; and seriously whatever the outcome, most of us are not going to get or loose anything new or old from OHA. What we will get is another knife in the back because it will be back to business-as-usual.
As a beneficiary, my opinion is, some of the folks entangled in this mess at OHA – current (not all) Trustees, former Trustees, anyone with eha, those protecting the ‘American Institution and interest of the Office of Hawaiians Affair. Etc. are using CEO, Kamana’opono Crabbe as a shield (against a Forensic Audit) to protect their own.
