We are now 12 days out from Jack needing an urgent referral to Queen's pulmonary hypertension unit...no referral yet. Tri-West confirms the doctor sent in the supporting medical records but said he failed to submit a form. I wonder when they were going to call us to tell us...oh, wait, they weren't. They were going to let this sit on someone's desk for months like they did with his ENT appt. which cost him his hearing. I'll call everyday to follow up.
On the 22nd, Jack... runs out of his new heart med which he should have been on last year during the time the VA refused to refer him to a cardiologist. Supposedly, prescription sent to V.A. last week. VA has no record - VA PCP can't prescribe - restricted Rx by cardiologist only.
Tri-West is NOT V.A. They are separate, independent entities and each has their own rules, policies, staff. Their computers don't talk to the VA computers - once Tri-West gets involved, the PCP is left in the dark and it is up to the patient to make sure the PCP gets all the records and information for continuing care.
Queens says it needs a referral from VA because VA is primary insurance - Tri West says the referral goes to them first. PCP has no clue what transpired or who is referring what.... see any problem with this?
Jack needed this referral last year -evidence of a medical need was well established. Jack paid a hefty price for 15 month delay and his return to Hawaii. Oddly, when a kanaka maoli is forced to leave Hawaii, the other Hawaiian activities consider them "second class" kanaka - not being on island to "fight the good fight." It's total BS and unnecessary labeling. It is a designed division (not caused by haole btw.)
(I wonder if Jack can donate a kidney to pay for the VA's fraudulent billings- sarcasm.)

Amelia Gora Nadine Aquino hi, were you able to give Jack and Maria Taylor the documents? Maria Taylor is Jack a John Young, Isaac Davis descendant? he would be eligible as an heir......because Grace Kamaikui was married to Isaac Davis and mother/stepmother of Hueu Davis, Kale Davis, and Peke Davis...... the incorporation documents of Queen's shows that Kamehameha IV - Alexander Liholiho is the permanent Head of the Queen's Hospital....he bypasses the so called referral issue that they are pursuing.....he legally is eligible..... take care both of you....

Jack, a zero co-pay veteran, received a demand letter from the V.A. today - to pay a bill that was wrongfully charged to him when someone in Honolulu went into the computer and changed his finances so that Jack would 1) not be qualified for travel (to Oahu if need be) and 2) bring him into a co-pay situation.

Patrick Dempsey Just when you think the VA can't screw it up anymore, they manage to do it.
