Vol VII No. 732 Part 3

Just a reminder... stock up on emergency supplies. No one wants to be unprepared. Things change in a heartbeat. Have some cash handy too. Keep your cars full. Water, propane, TP on the islands is a must, medicines. In an emergency, the barges may not come for a while. You know the list. Just be safe and well prepared.

OBAKE KINE STORY
Here's a story from More Spooky Kine Tales of Supernatural Hawaii to help celebrate Halloween.
"More Haunted Waimanalo"
In book one of Spooky Kine Tales I talked about working with a teacher named Mrs. Chang. She is an art teacher to children of all ages, but she also taught Hawaiiana for many years. When I was collecting stories for the last book I had the chance to get several of her stories into the book. For this book, I had the chance to gather stories from her siblings as well.
The first story comes from Mrs. Chang’s sister Gail. Mrs. Chang, Gail, and the rest of their siblings total ten in all. They are from a large family. Because there were so many of them, they often had to share rooms, sometimes having as many as four of them in the same room. Eventually, the family moved into a larger home in Waimanalo, which meant Gail could have her own room for the first time in her life.
Gail was very excited to have her own room. Unfortunately, the excitement quickly faded when some strange things began to occur. Every night she would be startled awake by something sitting on her chest. She said it felt like something was trying to take her breath away, forcing her to gasp for air when she could finally sit up. To make matters worse, when she could sit up, she would see shadowy figures moving in one particular corner of her room. She got so scared that she would sneak off and sleep in another room with her two sisters.
The funny thing was she never told anyone because she didn’t want to give up having her own room. She was worried her parents would take her room away from her. Every night she would sneak off to sleep somewhere else, then in the morning she would sneak back into her room. This went on for a while; that is, until one morning her mother and father caught her sneaking out of her sisters’ room. They asked her what she was doing, so she finally told them everything. She told them about the shadowy figures and the thing waking her up by sitting on her chest. She explained that it only seemed to happen in her room, so she would sneak out at night to stay with her sisters.
Her mom and dad called a female kahuna they knew. The kahuna came by the house to pray and help cleanse the home. It took several visits and a number of attempts for her to pray and cleanse the room. She discovered that the corner of the room where Gail would see the shadowy figures was on a menehune trail. The trail ran straight through that corner. The kahuna was able to pray and do something to move the trail enough that it didn’t pass through Gail’s room anymore. This stopped the supernatural activity completely, and Gail was able to sleep in the room comfortably for the rest of her time there.

Lana Franco Night marchers ! It’s happened to me at the house I was raised at. It’s happened to my husband he’d sleep on the floor and felt someone walk on him. And he too couldn’t breathe.
