Avoiding War, Conflict, and Genocide: the U.S. Needs to Retract from Hawaii

SHUTDOWN DAY 16: The U.S. economy lost $24 billion in economic output during the 16-day shutdown of 2013, when Senate Republicans refused to fund the government unless Obamacare was repealed. The current shutdown is on track to go much longer. Pres. Trump said Friday he is willing to keep the government shut for years to get $5.6 billion for a border wall

Amelia Gora appears the wall is a losing battle...when you think about it, the U.S. claims 3-12 miles from it's borders which means that the U.S. has encroached into Mexico, etc. and therefore those Mexicans within 3-12 miles are Legally Americans are they not? the 3-12 miles laws of the sea is applicable around the borders of the U.S....which means the others who have already gone within the 3-12 miles are also legally Americans too ….the Canadians too, etc. So, the U.S. claims to Hawaii outside of the 3-12 mile borders would also mean that they claim other nations too along with Great Britain so....shouldn't the U.S. build Walls all the way around itself? https://www.worldatlas.com/.../what-countries-border-the... ….in other words, it's a ridiculous project that could not realistically happen....and no one will work for free...unless they are slaves under armed guard...hmmm...Trump's project is a thumbs down sad to say.

Ruthann Caudill NO BORDER WALL
More than 650 miles of barriers already exist along the border. These walls, fences and barriers cut through sensitive ecosystems, disrupt animal migration patterns, cause catastrophic flooding, and divide communities and tribal nations.See More

Amelia Gora 2,421 miles distance from Hawaii to California https://www.bing.com/search... so, the way to end the problematic issues of borders is to say that Hawaii belongs to Hawaii, the retraction of the claims on territory outside of the 12 miles be rescinded....then the definitions of borders will be set back... as it is right now the U.S. is overreaching into everyone's territory …. like a crab, the U.S. and other nations will have to retract and go back into its own shell and maintain that, its own citizenry, etc. What a mess.... and the democraps just might get their way of impeachment for Trump...sad.

Ruthann Caudill NO BORDER WALL
More than 650 miles of barriers already exist along the border. These walls, fences and barriers cut through sensitive ecosystems, disrupt animal migration patterns, cause catastrophic flooding, and divide communities and tribal nations.

Now Donald Trump wants a wall across the entire 2,000-mile border. Trump’s wall would harm border communities, perpetuate human suffering, destroy thousands of acres of habitat and halt the cross-border migration of dozens of animal species. In fact, as revealed in the Center’s 2017 report A Wall in the Wild, 93 threatened, endangered and candidate species would potentially be affected by construction of a wall and related infrastructure spanning the entirety of the border.

This is a looming tragedy for the region’s diverse wildlife and people, as well as its rugged and spectacular landscapes. We're fighting in the courts, in Congress and in our communities to stop Trump's cynical attack on our beautiful borderlands.

Ruthann Caudill These people have family on the other side of the "Wall." I am against any funding to further the genocide.

Ruthann Caudill The Tohono O’odham Nation — the tribe is the second-largest in the U.S., by land holdings — sits on an estimated 2.7 million acres in southern Arizona’s Sonoran Desert. Ancestral lands stretch across the border into the Mexican state of Sonora.

About 2,000 of the tribe’s 34,000 members live in Sonora, according to tribal officials. They were cut off from the rest of the nation by the 62-mile international boundary and have found themselves increasingly isolated from their people in Arizona.

The Tohono O’odham people consider the San Miguel Gate a traditional passage of their ancestors.
