Love In the Midst of Queen Liliuokalani's Usurpation:  The Story of Koolau the Leper and His Wife Piilani - 1893

The following is a love story of a Hawaiian couple who fled from capture to only be imprisoned on the Leprosy colony of Kalaupapa, Molokai.

Many kanaka maoli were captured and taken to the Leprosy colony.

The lovers Koolau and his wife Piilani avoided capture and imprisonment.

In genealogy research, it appears that Koolau was also married to Kaeha/Kamakaeha/Makaeha/ Lydia/Liliuokalani/Queen Liliuokalani.

Appears that those hunting Koolau and his wife Piilani included Queen Liliuokalani's Attorney Kinney.

Research incomplete.

aloha.
