Laulani Teale They added a crappy line exempting Hawaiian practices that are in accordance with HSC article 12 sec 7. This does NOT protect us, for many reasons. For one, enforcing officials do not usually even KNOW the law. So realistically, people might be harassed and cited or arrested, THEN might win in court (of course district courts do nor generally rule on constitutional issues at all, so it would require losing at that level and prob the ICA and then maybe winning at the HSC -- IF one survives that whole BS landslide. Also, article 12 sec 7 is weak; it has been affected by both good and really bad case law, it allows for state limitation and enforcement, and it does not protect our non-koko 'ohana. At all.

Laulani Teale ALSO keep an eye on SB 717. That one is actually worse, imo. It creates a sheriff team to patrol the forests and other wild places. Screw that!!!
