[Pertaining to Independence Day.
Tune.—A Victory, Happy Hours. p. 144.
The drums sound,
On this fine day;
Rise up and rejoice,
This Independence Day.
The songs ring forth,
In the uplands, towards the sea;
Here, there, in the hills,
Beautiful they sound.
Cho—The multitudes exclaim,
Huzza, huzza, rejoice,
Huzza, huzza, huzza, rejoice,
Huzza, huzza, huzza, rejoice.
Sing, O Children,
On this fine day;
Aloha for the King,
Younger brothers give your aloha;
Parents give your aloha,
For that of the Chiefly realm,
Which gave us
This Independence.
Cho—The multitudes exclaim,
Our work goes on,
For peace,
And for education,
And for our bodies;
War is warded off,
And fighting,
Our homes and fields,
Remain steadfast.
Cho—The multitudes exclaim,]
[The person signing his name as “Hawaii” here is probably Lorenzo Lyons. The tune for this mele comes from the hymnal “Happy Hours”.]

On 16 October 1876, at ʻIolani Palace, His Majesty King David Laʻamea Kalākaua constituted "The Royal Order of Kalakaua."
He named His Royal Highness Prince W.... P. Leleiohoku as Chancellor of the Order and appointed an Executive Committee consisting of Charles C. Harris, Charles Reed Bishop, A.J. Cleghorn, and John Owen Dominis.
The fourteen awards handed out that day were the first of the order. The final two Knights of the Order of Kalākaua were the Hawaiian Kingdom legislators Iosepa Kahoʻoluhi Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu [Hilo] and William Pūnohuʻāweoweoʻulaokalani White [Lāhainā].
These two poʻe aloha ʻāina were knighted as "great patriots of the nation" by Her Majesty Queen Liliʻuokalani on the morning of 14 January 1893 for their work in organizing opposition to the Bayonet Constitution of 1887 and co-authoring a new constitution that she was planning to implement only hours later.

Kanani Higbee That’s good. I wouldn’t trust someone with that kind of money either. They see something they like and then buy it. Molokai people are smart. One thing I would like to do for Molokai is help pull invasive species and get the habitat looking nice and the waters clear. I’ve heard from many that there is too much brown water. I would like to go in and help restore. But idk if they would like me to help or not.

Kanaka harassed when visiting our kuleana lands Puko'o Molokai. The Malihini took pictures of us and called the cops. The malihini asserting ownership wanted us taken away and charged with criminal trespass. We stood our ground. The police couldn't do nothing. #kue

Kanani Higbee It will get settled in court. The police don’t do anything with that. If someone was getting assaulted, then they step in. But that’s sad to see haoles taking kanaka maoli’s land. I hope it works out for the Hawaiian.

James Zike Wow! Amazing! Innocent haole buying land that will never belong to them. They are about to discover the ugly truth about what their US government has hidden for years. The truth is out! As more & more kanaka make claim to their kuleana then less & less the haole will feel safe in buying as they too learn the truth! That couple is about to discover how they got scammed by the evil deeds of their own country - the USA. Ku'e.

Alison Lewis These two books, available at library, are key to understanding the problem. It didnt start with the overthrow in 1893, but way back in 1845 and 1846, with Kamehameha 3. Everyone should read these. Itʻll be key to regaining land for Hawaiians and not just ending up losing it all over again in a few generations.
