Vol VI No. 697 Part 1c

Wilcox was rotten to the core and a sexist POS too!
1892 May 2 - out of the book 100 YEARS OF HEALING - The Legacy of a Kauai Missionary Doctor by Evelyn E. Cook (2003) - Note that the following speech was not covered in the newspapers nor was it brought out in the trial for ROBERT W. WILCOX, et. als.:
page 105:
...
"highly educated part-Hawaiians, such as Robert W. Wilcox and John E. Bush, who, while strongly identifying with the Hawaiian people, nevertheless often opposed the Queen and considered the monarchy obsolete.....Robert Wilcox delivered the following speech on May 5, 1892, before an audience of about 200:
Monarchy is limited to descendants of royalty. Republic means the welfare of all. In an aristocratic republic the president is chosen from the nobility. In a democratic republic any commoner can become a president. The most popular man, receiving the greatest number of votes will become president. America and Switzerland are the leading republics of today.
Those who tell you that you are not fit to govern a republic, you should regard as your worst enemies....
Our greatest enemy is the Queen, because she keeps the Hawaiians down. (Applause)....
Are we to be governed by Wilson (Marshal Charles B. Wilson, alleged lover of the Queen)..... I do not wish to be governed by dolls. I believe no woman ought to reign. They have no brains. They are generally weak...."

Laulani Teale Well, he lived with her too. Not saying anything was going on. But this sure sounds more personal than political.

Laulani Teale And it was supposedly his guns buried in her garden that she was imprisoned for, right? And it was his life they were going to take if she did not sign the abdication the PG drew up. There is so much more to their clearly very complex relationship than can be easily measured by words that sound more like a hissy fit than an actual political position...

Deldrene Herron Any Man in the kingdom at that time would have prefered a male Mo'i. If Kaahumanu was in charge she would have killed all the insurgents and confiscated their ships. That would have caused a blood bath but look at that we have now. No law, no land, no treasury and homeless drifters in our own country. Wilcox LED THE Rebellion to protect HIS country and protect the Mo'i, a woman, His Queen. Thurston and the annexationist controlled the média. They picked and chose what they wanted to print as propaganda. We were not there.

Descent against authority was permissable under a Constitucional Monarchy. Our queen understood him and forgave him.

Alexander Kalauokalani Pe'a Robert Wilcox is a national hero for standing up to the all white unelected government the US created to overthrow our government. There are hundreds of songs in Hawaiian written about him as a hero of the time. Don't believe what you read these source...See More

Joe Keliiaumoana Stevens “Republic mean the welfare of all” but the illegal Republic of Hawaii was looking out for anything but the welfare of all and look at the US today...”welfare of all” 😂

Joe Keliiaumoana Stevens Come on now. That article was published in the Advertiser the most pro-annexation and anti-Hawaiian newspaper at the time. Of course they’re gonna make Robert Wilcox look like a monster.
