Amelia Gora Let's see...the history of Samoans...they were the slaves of the Tongans...…...Kamehameha started the Polynesian Empire which included the Samoan Islands, Aetearoa, and the Hawaiian Islands...it was a democratic connection....many kanaka maoli shortly after the dethronement of Queen Liliuoklani left for Samoa, and Aetearoa…….. now the Americans moved /premeditated to assume our Hawaiian Islands, then Great Britain moved for Aetearoa, and the Germans moved for the Samoan Islands...…...they fought....and some of our people were massacred and there is a mass grave with 257 Chiefs and Chiefesses on the Iolani Palace grounds...as per oral history...and 800 were killed on the Big Island as claimed by some kanaka maoli and one haole man that they followed till he died recently...…...my research shows about 250 were killed which is why genocide is indeed an issue against our people...….As for the Samoan, he is a Samoan and he is Not our Family...viewed as an actor who is being watched......perhaps he's real or a steroid character to assume a Hawaiian...…..my own Dad was 6'1 muscular, did not take steroids - a natural, a Kamehameha, and put many Samoans, etc. to shame...but the advantage is that he was chased by many women too ….lol ….the Rock is admired by many...….but a Samoan is Not a kanaka maoli….Kanaka maoli are unique and only racists label brownies, blacks, whites, yellows, reds.... just putting in my 2 cents...…

Maria Taylor Hawaiian is a nationality - my son did a DNA test recently and he was 1% Pacific Islander - there was no "Samoan" or "Hawaiian" in his results.

Amelia Gora who's doing the findings and when was it developed....our people were in the Hawaiian Islands for more than 1,650+ years..... and even among the other races, there was a line drawn as to the American version of races..... am thinking that DNA is just another way to assume identities of others by categorizing each and can be manipulated... the interaction of other peoples over the 1,650+ years remained mostly about maintaining friendships even among those living in the Pacific Ocean islands... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4mNDS5rIRU the ancients did trading...etc....

Maria Taylor But...even assuming there is a DNA/genetic difference as opposed to a national identity, where do people get off telling someone else what they can and cannot do? If people don't like it, they boycott it at the movies or let their consumer dollar do it for them. Last I looked, the Rock was not inviting public opinion...

Ruthann Caudill My parents went to the Temple and came home with stories about what was happening. I was married in the Temple (GAG) and what happened in the Temple had changed, but not enough to tempt me to go back. The Temple rites should not change, but have...makes me more than wonder.

Amelia Gora it's more of a respect situation....part of the culture......but my folks didn't like it at all because they said lots of it is "Calabash" or not for real relatives....calabashes break easily vs. koko/bloodlines identified, verified....
