In 2015, accordingly to their filed 990 tax form (which is a publicly available document), TMT (TMT International Observatory, LLC) paid $3,030,323 (over $3 million dollars) to local firm “Private Security Group” (1037 Hanohano Way, Honolulu, HI 96825) for security services.
Upon doing a basic search of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) website, it shows that “Private Security Group, Inc.” (File Number 203631 D1) is a domestic profit corporation registered in 2003 to a Charles L. Long, 7192 Kalanianaole Hwy. Suite G100 Honolulu, HI 96825. The officers and owners of this private for-profit company are Charles Long (CEO, President and Director), Melanie Long, and Bradford Long.
Upon doing an “agent search” at the same DCCA website for Charles Long and Melanie Long, owners of Private Security Group. Melanie Long appears as the agent for Pacific International Realty, Inc. (File Number 214667 D1), address 7192 Kalanianaole Hwy Suite G-102. Honolulu, HI 96825.
Upon searching for Pacific International Realty, Inc. as an agent, only one business appears: David and Dawn Ige Enterprises.
David and Dawn Ige Enterprises is a general domestic partnership (File Number 4481 G5) first registered in 2015. The mailing address is 320 S. Beretania St. Honolulu, HI 96813 (Washington Place). The registered agent of David and Dawn Ige Enterprises is Pacific International Realty, Inc, 7192 Kalanianaole Hwy Suite G-102. Honolulu, HI 96825, whose owners are Charles and Melanie Long, the same owners of Private Security Group that received over $3 million for the TMT Security Contract.

    From Kealoha Pisciotta: Just wanted to add some Mana’o about cutting the Flag...that is Desecration —the Hawaiian flag is protected just as the American flag is also and if the man who cut Hawaiian Flag in half where to do the same to the American flag...there would be outrage. One of the specific criteria in the Desecration Law (HRS 711-1106) is that anyone witnessing the crime of desecration will be outraged as was evidenced yesterday and continues to be witnessed for all the days we have been protecting the Mauna.
    The real root of the MK situation is that the TMT Project will Desecrate our Sacred House of Worship! The question is, is who will enforce this law on Mauna and enforce it protect the Civil and Human Rights of the Hawaiian People?”
    The selective enforcement is being recorded!!!

    We can all safely say that MK is a monument, a place of worship and it is a burial ground....it is a place of veneration and construction will result in this Sacred house of worship being defaced, damaged, polluted, or otherwise mistreated in a way that it has, will and will continues to generate outrage ...outranging our sensibilities so...now the flag which is specifically referred in the the Desecration Law and as we saw it did cause outrage!!! Auwe!!!! The irony is that Gov Ige helped to amend this law after kids desecrated a cemetery ...he knows all about this law.
    The Desecration Statute:
    §711-1107 Desecration. (1) A person commits the offense of desecration if the person intentionally desecrates:
    (a) Any public monument or structure;
    (b) A place of worship or burial; or
    (c) In a public place the national flag or any other object of veneration by a substantial segment of the public.
    (2) "Desecrate" means defacing, damaging, polluting, or otherwise physically mistreating in a way that the defendant knows will outrage the sensibilities of persons likely to observe or discover the defendant's action.
    (3) Any person convicted of committing the offense of desecration shall be sentenced to a term of imprisonment of not more than one year, a fine of not more than $10,000, or both. [L 1972, c 9, pt of §1; gen ch 1993; am L 2002, c 198, §1]
    Revision Note
    In subsection (1)(a), "or" deleted pursuant to §23G-15.
    COMMENTARY ON §711-1107
    Previous Hawaii law prohibited certain types of desecration. For example, desecration of the United States flag was prohibited.[1] Section 711-1107 deals more generally with all acts of desecration; i.e., acts of physical damage to or mistreatment of venerated places and objects under circumstances which the defendant knows are likely to outrage the sensibilities of persons who observe or discover the defendant's actions. Thus, any desecration of a public monument or structure; or a place of worship or burial (public or private); or, in a public place, the national flag, or any other object (such as certain religious objects) revered by a substantial segment of the public, will constitute an offense. Damage by desecration is treated separately from other types of property damage because the sense of outrage produced by such acts is out of proportion to the monetary value of the damage. Thus, desecration is a misdemeanor, although many such cases might otherwise be petty misdemeanors under §708-823 because the object desecrated is worth less than $50.
    SUPPLEMENTAL COMMENTARY ON §711-1107
    Act 198, Session Laws 2002, amended this section by changing the penalty for desecration from a misdemeanor to one year imprisonment, a fine of $10,000, or both. The legislature found that recent vandalism at cemeteries denoted that the current financial penalties of a misdemeanor offense for desecration were an insufficient deterrent. The $10,000 fine was consistent with the penalty in §6E-11(c), relating to destruction of historic property. The legislature believed that a burial place or grave deserved no less a penalty for damage than did a historical monument. Senate Standing Committee Report No. 2957, House Standing Committee Report No. 416-02.
