Aloha kakou he Hawai’i PAU?
Like most of us I often ask myself and some still around me, “The Why Hawaiian Islands”? Was it because of its peaceful people or was it that the weather anytime of the year was perfect for an “Overthrow”? But it was and still is the centralization of the Hawaiian Islands as major part in the “Control of Commerce” between the West and Central Asia. Even more of, the locations of the atolls and surfaced islands like Palmyra, Johnston, Howard and Baker Islands. Also known as the most northern atoll of the Hawaiian Kingdom of Papaakeamoku a major sealife reserve today under U.S. Fish and Wildlife. So vital, that in 1862 King Kamehameha IV claimed Palmyra as part of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
I have often wondered why in the late 1930’s a dozen or so Kamehameha High School male Students like Anakala Buzzy Agard spent summers doing weather and recording maritime movements in the area. Grads were recording weather and tidal conditions on a daily basis. These students were also recording maritime movement namely then that of the great Japanese Empire. For more of an insight, I suggest that every Kanaka Maoli ohana get a copy of Anakala Buzzy Agard’s last publication "politics- Hawaii Sandalwood Trees -and hope”.
Ironically. Judge Henry Cooper the famed orator of the 1893 “Overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom Proclamation” in late 1800’s became the owner of Palmyra Island and interest in other adjoining atolls. It seems the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was not entirely of free land and water for sugar cane and pineapple but was for these atolls and islands that today serve as “open ocean moorings” for maritime vessels awaiting clearance to enter the Panama Canal vis the Pacific Ocean. No wonder the control of the Hawaiian Islands was so expedited!

Note:
Agard's book is well categorized, the research is good, but it appears there are incomplete, unresolved issues.
It's funny but I just returned the book today....borrowed from the Kaimuki Library.
Future issues of the IOLANI - the Royal Hawk will cover some of the missing information/incomplete research which is not included in Agard's book.
The topics brought out by Pilipo covers Palmyra Island, Japanese in the Pacific, Panama, etc.
For starters, Palmyra Island was claimed by the Hawaiian Kingdom documented by Kamehameha V
- Lot Kamehameha.
Conspiracy(ies), piracy(ies), pillaging, racketeering documented:
