Vol VI No. 634 Part 2

Iolani Palace
On this day in 1893, at the behest of her people, Queen Liliuokalani presented a new constitution to the cabinet. The Queen had received petitions from the people requesting that she amend the current constitution. Unfortunately, the Queen’s cabinet was not in support of the amendments she made. Those awaiting the word from the Queen were met with disappointment as she stated the following:
“I was ready and expected to proclaim the new constitution to-day, as a suitable occasion for it, and thus satisfy the wishes of my dear people. But, with deep regret, I say that I have met with obstacles that prevent it. Return to your homes peaceably and quietly and continue to look towards me, and I will look towards you. Keep me ever in your love. I must confer with my cabinet, and when, after you return home, you may see it, receive it graciously. You have my love and with sorrow I now dismiss you.” - Queen Liliuokalani

Sacred Mauna Kea Hui has currently been pushed out of the TMT re-permitting contested hearing and cannot survive in it without your help.
Our successes are great... However my sadness is also great knowing this subjugated reality.
Our support, I am so grateful for thus far.
However, again I lift prayers up in desperation and reach out to you.
My private life and journey is one I am more than willing to share for our cause, with mistakes, with lessons with victories, and challenges and everything. I am literally walking out of my hotel room, checking out, jumping in my car which my sister holds for me here, and I don't know where I'm going. So here's my story thank you for listening, I hold my head high and my heart humble:
Brannon Kamahana Kealoha is my "legal" name. I am a lawful petitioner/party to the contested case against the re-permitting of Thirty Meter Telescope construction on Mauna Kea.
My lineal ascendants are legally and customarily documented. They are Lilinoe and Kukahauula. These are my burial grounds. These are my lawful and customary claims.
I speak for my kupuna and rights and those who support my stance for our collective rights and also stand for environmental accountability.
THIS CASE SETS PRECEDENT for the management and exploitation of half the total land in all of Hawaii.
I am a kupa of Waimea for many generations. It is where my iwi rest. My oneiwi also include South Kona, Kumukahi, Kilauea, Kaneohe, Waimanalo and yes at Mauna Kea. I reside in Nanakuli as I have acquired degrees in Anthropology and Hawaiian Language. I am a professional musician blessed to play with Kimo Keaulana and Lei Hulu. I teach ancient hula in my halau Pua Ana Ka Malanai. We have had to be on sabbatical since the first day of successful blockade on the Mauna in October of 2014. I am also unable to pursue graduate programs during this difficult time as our schedule depends on the dictated and unreasonable scheduling of the hearing officer who expects all parties to be available indefinitely with no restriction. This has come out to over 1000 hours so far. We will not be able to NOT WORK much longer and have exhausted our ohana, friends and charities... having spent over $65,000 since 2014 to hold this system accountable.
As sad as our sacrifices makes me, our Mauna is more important.
Again since 2013 we have been forced to spend MORE than $100,000 dollars of charity to do the job DLNR, UH, DHHL, OHA, and the State should be doing- SIMPLY TO FOLLOW THEIR OWN LAWS.
Again- we have already been forced to be available for hearings for over 1000 hours since June 2015. We have been expected to put aside 4 days a week from October through January (which I and many have done losing job opportunities and scholarship fundings) and indefinitely forward through 2016.
Don't know what else to do but pray and follow through on my end:
Thank you all for watching "Sacred Mauna Kea" on youtube. Your prayers and support are so necessary and powerful. thanks for watching.
Ive been told to make my needs known and ask all to share my gofundme.com/sacredmaunakea
My family are in Kohala, Waimea, and Kona as well as Keaau... am looking for weekend work (no one hires those with hearing officer-dictated, sporadic schedules, nor people available only 2-3 days a week currently... nor do my gigs work around my sched where I reside in Nanakuli) as we work through the night during hearings just to keep up our legal work and cross exams...
So here is my situation- EVERYONE on island or off island residence practitioners, are in jeopardy of the same concerns pushing them out of the hearings... am trying my best to make this happen but am also understanding that what is meant to be will happen... grateful for all and the privilege and kuleana thus far and if I am not meant to finish this process or participate any further than I must accept this. But I will reach out one more time:
Not sure where I'll stay ever. I think sometimes I might stay on the mauna at night but idk. Gas is expensive or else I'd go Kohala or Waimea and stay with my family who have also exhausted their ability to fund this important effort. Even Keaau is a 20$ gas, round trip. Waimea is about $40 rt for gas and Kohala $60 rt... I have been pushed out of the hearing and will continue to be excluded if nothing happens.
I have two round trips left open for Jan. Where Im supposed to be here M-Th every week that month and no cash for gas, food or hotel. Unable to work as well as my schedule is M-TH in Hilo and I live and work on Oahu.
If can, can. Exhausted... I'm never giving up... Begging and working and living and praying for funds to stay in Hilo for the next round, look for work in Hilo, and the whole time prepare the legal work and necessities for every single hearing day.
Thereafter, again, I have two round-trip tickets left, the entire month of January, Monday through Thursday every week, and indefinite months to come, to plan airfare, shelter, food, and gas.
Please help if you can at:

OVERTHROW UNCLE TOM
The man who thwarted an effort to hold an election for Native Hawaiians is the newest trustee of the public agency that provided $2.6 million for the failed self-governance vote.
Kelii Akina was elected in November as an at-large Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee, unseating Haunani Apoliona, who was a trustee since 1996.
Akina’s win came as a shock to some in the Native Hawaiian community who wonder if his views are consistent with the office’s aim to improve Native Hawaiians’ wellbeing.
“I’m a little concerned because of his rhetoric during the campaign,” said Oz Stender, a Bishop Estate trustee in the 1990s and an Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustee from 2000 to 2014. “The money that OHA gets to carry on its programs to better the lives of Hawaiians, he says should be used for everybody and not only Hawaiians.”

These guys attempting to usurp the usurpers who are deez guys:
Exactly why sacredmaunakea.com and gofundme.com/sacredmaunakea are forced to spend monies to hold the powers that be accountable.
I say. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
Our monies were intended to benefit the continually degraded conservation district and endangered species environment NOT to hold the powers that be to the simple letter of THEIR OWN laws.
This is not over.
The "State" is afraid of the TMT suing them for misleading their corporate interests?
EVEN THOUGH the TMT/TIO is a direct accomplice to the same crime- THEY solicited the State and premeditated this depravation of rights with the state to do exactly that, deprive the people of CIVIL RIGHTS. So screw them.
Be ready UH. YOU HAVE SEVERELY VIOLATED THE FUNDS OF MANY CHARITIES BY DEPRIVING THE PEOPLE OF CIVIL RIGHTS.
You think the TMT corporation is going to sue you and it will be bad?
You are going to hell in a hand basket and aint that something sacred!?
Can't wait.

HILO, Hawaii – The contested case hearing over a permit that would allow the Thirty Meter Telescope to be built on Mauna Kea continued in Hilo on Friday, although there was debate over a court decision made on a different TMT-related matter the day before.
On Thursday, Third Circuit Court Judge Greg Nakamura ruled that the Board of Land and Natural Resources violated the constitutional rights of E Kalani Flores in 2014 when it denied his request for a contested case hearing before consenting to the University of Hawai’i sublease of the summit-area land to TMT International Observatory, LLC.
The ruling was oral and a written decision was not yet available at the start of today’s proceedings in Hilo, which deals with a conservation district use permit for Mauna Kea, applied for by the University on behalf of the $1.4 billion TMT observatory.
“I need to work off a written order because I need to see what was ordered,” hearing officer Judge Riki May Amano (ret.) said Friday morning, after some participants asked to postpone the proceeding.
The TMT International Observatory (TIO) is participating in the ongoing contested case, along with several other parties. A number of the parties opposed to the project on Mauna Kea cited Nakamura’s ruling as the reason to remove TIO as a participant in the contested case proceeding.
“The basis for (TIO’s) intervening was that they had obligations and rights under a contract,” said Lanny Sinkin on behalf of participant Temple of Lono, which filed a motion on the matter asking for the removal of TIO. “The contract they refer to is the sublease. If the sublease is no longer valid, than their whole reason for being here is no longer valid.”
“Its out of order,” TIO attorney Douglas Ing said of the motion. “I will note that Minute Order 13, which is the minute order that allowed intervention for a number of parties, admitted TIO on a basis of substantial interest, not on the basis of a property interest.”
“Nevertheless, we still have a property interest,” Ing added.
The University of Hawaii noted Thursday that it still has a sublease with TMT that it is subject to BLNR consent, and that the judge ruled on the consent of the sublease and not the sublease itself.
Amano went ahead with the contested case proceeding Friday, in which TIO called its first witness: David M. Callies, a law professor at the William S. Richardson School of Law, University of Hawaii at Manoa, who teaches courses in state and local government, land use, and property law.

Anyone have some good recommendations on how to calm someone who's having an anxiety attack ? #friday13th #idontnormallybuyintothat

Laulani Teale It really depends upon the intensity of the attack, and other factors. But deep, slow breathing is always good if it is possible. The main chemical involved in an anxiety attack is adrenaline. So breaking the feedback loop (or spiral) that causes more adrenaline to be released is crucial. Different people have different things that will work, or not, for this -- a lot like how hiccup cures vary from person to person. Same theory -- interrupting the "spin". Some common tools are breathing, accupressure, water sipping, specific meditations, essential oils or strong-smelling herbs, jolting endorphin-stimulating tastes like black pepper or cayenne (in quantity), smudging, cannabis, ice cream, and jumping in the ocean. There are lots more. I really like the yawning technique above - had not heard that one but I can see how it would work. And the nutritional and other primary prevention methods are great -- the best treatment is definitely not having the attack in the first place, if it can be prevented.
Oh, and love!! Love is a very powerful medicine for so many things, panic attacks being one for sure!! The best application varies from person to person, like anything else. But the essence is the same!

Josephine Keliipio when i feel my heart racing i usually take some deep breaths and the racing stops.
Sherie Hill Have them repeat after you in counting to 7, then say 15, then 17. ...their brain changes course in the confusion and having to think and they calm down. Otherwise....deep breath in to take in the good and a deep release to let go of the bad.
Moriah Smith 5 count breathing, breath in 5 count, hold 5 count, breathe out 5 count, hold empty 5, repeat. Live that way. They can start with 3 and build. It's Kriya Yoga. They should teach it in school, I didn't learn how to breathe till I was 25.
BeBop Blair Keep them safe, breathe with them, remind them that it will pass.
Helene Love check blood pressure and over time, lighten caffeine, stretch, walk in place using full arm movements at the same time; xanax can be safely used and has been on the market for many years--just take a little--also, helps get a good night's sleep. I used to have extreme anxiety because my body was beat from having extreme gluten intolerance for 47 years (now, I don't have anxiety).

Noa Napoleon The American revolution was based in part on a revelation about freedom which resulted in a constitution and a legal system based upon natural rights. The push for secession in the US is a natural law movement you might say.
