- Aloha, I have been preparing for what we Kanaka maoli will need to feed our ohana by building hydroponic systems. Because of the poisoning of our water tables and 'aina, I felt that we needed another option for growing foods thus hydroponics farming. It is a closed, raised, system using very little soil for the initial seed planting, at which time these seedlings are transferred into tubes for growing in water. Since it is a closed system, the water is recirculated through the system and fed with organic, liquid fertilizer. The system itself is built on an a-frame principle, thereby using very little space as this is a vertical process of gardening.

- In addition to the kupuna, makua and 'opio kia'i teams, we also had a keiki kia'i team who did a super awesome job patrolling the grounds, monitoring the jumpy castle from inside, and helping deliver messages. Awesome job, kia'i!!!
