Aloha,

Like to get the Star-Advertiser for six months free?   Know anyone who would?  A few days back, I sent you information about our fundraiser.   Lots of people are signing up to get the Star-Advertiser four days a week for six months for $10.   But some people who already get the newspaper are sending donations instead.  We’ve received more than a hundred dollars in donations.

The Star-Advertiser is really looking for more readers, however.  And they are paying us $20 for every new subscriber we turn in.  So everyone wins if we use the donated money to give the paper free to new subscribers.

This is why I like this idea.   The other day, Doris and I drove out to the new Nanakuli Library.  It’s gorgeous.  But hardly anyone was there.  I found copies of my own books, Man, Gods, and Nature, and A Call for Hawaiian Sovereignty.  They were printed more than twenty-five years ago, but they look brand new.  No one has ever checked them out.  All of the books in the library look new.

During the time of the monarchy, there were 37 printing presses in Hawaii.  Everybody loved to read.  Hawaii had the highest literacy rate in the world.

We need to get more Hawaiians reading and enjoying reading again.  Maybe if families had a free newspaper four days a week for six months, they might read the Sports or Entertainment section, or clip coupons, and really enjoy reading.  Maybe it would be good to have it around for your own family if you don’t already take the paper.

So this note is to ask for names of people who would like to receive the paper free.  Before filling out and sending the attached application, please email me to make sure we still have donated money available to cover it.   I will send out word when we run out of money.  (We are still taking donations.)  Our fundraiser with the Star-Advertiser ends on October 28.  Everything needs to be in by then.  So please act now.

Subject: Fantastic offer from Star-Advertiser and the Kapolei Chorale

Aloha,
The Kapolei Chorale has stumbled upon a fantastic fundraiser which could be a great find for you too.

For only $10, new subscribers to the Star-Advertiser can get:
  • 6 months of Star-Advertiser home delivery on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and all holidays.
That’s $122 worth of newspapers for $10.
with its news stories, videos, and photo galleries
with the paper appearing on your screen just as it does in print
  • 6 months of mobile site and mobile and tablet apps
  • 3 years of Midweek sent to you each week

To be eligible, one must not have received delivery of the Star-Advertiser for 30 days.
Just to be really clear, this is not $10 a month.  It is $10 for 6 months of delivery, 4 days a week plus holidays.

To get this deal:
Copy the attached order form.   Cut it in half and keep the bottom half as your receipt.
Fill out the top half and send it along with a ten dollar check or cash to:
                                The Kapolei Chorale
                                92-1365 Hauone Street
                                Kapolei, Hawai’i  96707
                Make checks out to Star-Advertiser.
On the form, please fill in the Agent’s Name as The Kapolei Chorale.
Everything must be received at the above address by October 27.

Your 6 months of paper delivery will begin on Saturday November 3.

Why is the Star-Advertiser making this offer?
Many people are now getting all of their news from their phones or computers.  There are no ads on the staradvertiser.com site.  The Star-Advertiser needs to show advertisers that people are seeing their ads.  So it has great need to have large numbers receiving the newsprint form which carries the ads.

The Kapolei Chorale is a community chorus, directed by Doris Dudley.  It is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization.   The Chorale sponsors the 9th Annual Leeward Music Festival which will again be held at the Kroc Center in East Kapolei on Saturday evening, April 13, 2019.  Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Leeward Music Festival.   If you already get the paper, but would like to donate $10 toward the Festival, please do.

If you have any questions, please call me at 672-8888.
