There is just TOO MUCH going on.
This Saturday, Io Kepa/ Iokepa Ioko Makela/ Madela Camat Joseph's memorial service is at Hawaiʻi Memorial Park -- yes, at the same time as the Hokuleʻa Homecoming! This is a huge conflict for us, as Liko was so part of Hokuleʻa's history, and very close to the Aikau family in particular. But Joseph is incredibly dear to us, and gave so, SO much to the work for Independence. So we will definitely be playing there (to the degree that Liko ...can, with his injured wrist).

His niece Lanz Madela is looking for pictures/video -- the only ones I can find are those I already tagged him in. Does anyone have any to share - Lynette Cruz, Kai Markell, Kiana Marshall, Hank Fergerstrom, Pono Kealoha, Oren K Tsutsumi, Mary Alice Ka'iulani Milham, Chris Keliiwaihoikeone Camarillo, Kahaka Patolo, trying to remember who else to ask...
Please also help spread the word. Yes I know many have kuleana at the Hokuleʻa event. No can help. But please, let's do our best to honor a great guardian of the Kingdom, too. Mahalo!

Public viewing is from 10:30 -11:30.
Service starts @11:30am-2:00pm

Amelia Gora Iokepa/Madela Camat Joseph was one of our Assistant Konohiki.... think Keli P. Akina may have a picture of him ....he attended many of our meetings...also found out that he was with Ragsdale et. als. on weekends....therefore, someone must have pics......I had asked Iokepa if he wanted me to call the ambulance and he said yes....he requested to eat a chocolate yogurt and had what he wished for..... appears he had an infection because his wound was weeping on his leg............the ambulance stayed stationary for 15 minutes and left without a siren on...........we think that he passed in the ambulance on that day. I knew something was wrong when he said "thank you" instead of "mahalo" because he spoke Hawaiian more than any of us.....yep, we miss him, hope the Minister will baptize him because he was making plans to be baptized at Kualoa....was nice knowing him.....am awed that many knew him too....a good guy.....only 51, guess God, Jesus has an assignment for him...
