Aloha Ahiahi Lahui Hawai'i!!!
Kinda was debating on sharing this!!! So here it goes!!! This is not for recognition , however the moral of the story is something to grasp!!! My son Keola n I just got home from our Wai'anae Neighborhood Board Monthly Meeting which I sit as a board member , We went to have dinner @ Taco Bell , as we were standing in line I noticed the cashier was busy counting all these loose change that apparently came from this young boy who couldn't have been over 10yrs of age!!! It was apparent that this boy was paying for his meal with all of these coins!!! In the meantime the line started to build up , n the whole time the worker was not looking at us because she was busy counting n did not want to recount again!!! So I leaned forward and address the worker n said Behbeh no need count those coins , I will pay for his meal!!! In fact just put it back in his ziplock bag!!! So she looked at me n started to put it all in the ziplock!!! Then I leaned over to boy n said no worry braddah I will pay for u!!! u keep those coins!!! without saying a word he just nodded n started to put the ziplock bag of coins in his pocket!!! Now this is where it gets rough!!! he turns around with TEARS in his eyes n extends his hand n says Thank You!!! I replied with my hand patting him on his head n saying no worries!!! he then goes to the back of the restaurant where his Father was sitting , then I asked the worker what was the boys order??? n she said the order n I said just one order???? Yes she replied!!! So I said make it two orders then!!! Before u knew it the Father came up to me n said " Excuse me did u pay for my sons meal n I said Yes!!! Then he said thank u soo much!!! I said A'ole Pilikia!!! Then he explained that he forgot his card the other day in the ATM machine n when he went to check it was gone!!! By the time that he went to cancel his card , the thief or thieves had already taken out his last 750 dollars that he had!!! He thanked me again n told me when he sees me again he will repay me!!! I said no need Braddah!!! He was adamant in repaying me!!! So I said u know how u can repay me??? He said how??? I said bring yourelf n son up to Ka'ala on sundays n join us in our super sustainable sundays!!! Where we work the Aina in our 3 Lo'i patches!!! He said Ok!!! n come to find out he also lives in our Wai'anae Valley Hawaiian Homestead!!! Moral of the Story when u can be a blessings to someone please be one!!! My eyes were filling with tears cause Iv'e been there with my boys n scraping all the change we could find to buy food for us!!! With that being said I couldn't help but think Aww I get it what my Dear Unko Bimo Akiona told me!!! 3 things u need to do , so u can be a blessing to others!!! 1. Take care of your Health!!! 2. Take care of your Family!!! 3. Take care of your finances!!! When u do these things then u will be in a better postion to help others n be a blessing!!!! My heart went completely out for that boy n his Father!!! Cause I know 1st hand as a Father also!!! Conclusion I do not share this for recognition but for the humanity aspect of it!!! cause their were others in their that also had seen what was going on with all the coins being counted!!! I am excited n hopeful that we will get to connect Kanaka to Kanaka up Puea Ka'ala on Super Sustainable Sundays!!! Luv u Lahui Hawai'i!!!
