EASY LAULAU
2 oz. salted butterfish
1 lb. pork, thinkly sliced
1 can spinach, well drained
Bake: 350 degrees
Time: 1 hour
Yield: 6 servings
Soak butterfish in clear water for 1 hour; drain and slice. Layer spinach, pork, and butterfish in greased casserole dish. Cover and bake.
Instant Mochi
3 cups water
1 cup Karo syrup (red label)
1 box mochiko (about 3 cups)
Bring water and syrup mixture to boil. Lower heat. Pour mochiko, stirring constantly. Mix well from bottom. Mixture will harden quickly. Form mixture into small patties if desired, fill each patty with well chilled "an". For coloring, add a few drops of food coloring to syrup before adding mochiko.
Ice Cake
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 1/2 cups water
1 tall can evaporated milk
2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
Few drops food coloring (optional)
Boil sugar and water. Add evaporated milk and vanilla and cool. Place in refrigerator trays/or paper drinking cups. Place in freezer.
