Aloha Senator Mike Gabbard-

1.  PUEO Islandwide Survey

Has anyone gotten back to you regarding the DLNR & USFWS procurement for PUEO -
-  has it gone out to advertisement yet?

If you know of it being posted please share-

2.  Ornithologist @ UHWO

To my knowledge, the request to UHWO Chancellor Dr. Ching for interaction to bring forth an
Ornithologist to the property has gone unabated-

Can you assist and forward the request to the UHWO Administration & UH Board of Regents to act?
-  What we have here at UHWO is a "new condition" (PUEO) on property- this triggers an investigation -this would justify or not justify
a SEIS to be warranted.

3. When does UHWO expect to break ground for the 300 acres? Do you have that date?

Here is a question to you directly-

"You know there are Pueo at UHWO-
so, will you champion the legislative means to protect them?"

There is over 900 plus acres just a stone's throw away that UHWO already owns--- that land is available - right now-
-so why not develop there up the hill instead and give the PUEO a home to call their own?

The Solution is-

Do a land swap-   since the land owner is the same agent.

Why not save the 300 acres of PUEO territory in situ as is---- and then

leave the 300 acres as an outdoor lab for the students to study all endangered things great and small and utilize this feature-

With these natural assets already in play brought to our attention via the PUEO- there is nominal investment needed-  the potential for a built-in
outdoor classroom is doable right now-  our own New York City Central Park- imagine that city without it. Same smell.
You have a win win win at your fingertips.   Where just exactly do you stand, Senator, on protecting and preserving the PUEO at UHWO? Are you willing to call
for the 300 acre (housing) development plan for UHWO to to come to a halt?
