Theresa Keohunani Taber oh plenty Hawaiians came out saying those opposing the Rock playing Kamehameha should know that our Moʻi is Samoan, so itʻs ok. Plenty told me shut up, said at least the story being told, our King is of Samoan lineage, so now all Kanaka are Samoans as well.... I grew up around Samoans all my life, and never ONCE did they ever say that, make that connection, insinuation, NOTHING. So yeah that new Hawaiian/Samoan or "Sawaiian"

Tane Inciong Theresa Keohunani Taber that is so asinine linking Kamehameha with Samoan. It’s like saying Kamehameha is African because that’s the root beginnings of humans that populated the world. I, Too, never heard of such rubbish while growing up. My gggg-grandmother came from Tahiti which means I have 1/64th from Borabora. It doesn’t make me Tahitian. Paiea’s ancestor from Samoa was 12 great grandfather which means Kamehameha has About 1/2048th Samoan and the rest is kanaka maoli. It is Still correct that Polynesians are one and the same people; but different ethnicity. Those people that claim Kamehameha is Samoan need to learn mathematics and fractions. That Samoan chief came to Hawai‘i and intermarried with a Hawaiian whose descendants married Hawaiians. Case ends.
