"Many Puerto Ricans we spoke to felt their immense suffering after the
hurricane had been trivialised and that the emergency response has been
lacklustre."
Aloha y saludos,
As some of you know, the government of Puerto Rico had previously projected that a mere "64" people had died as result of hurricane Maria that struck back in September. Many here did not believe this stat. and thought the real figure was probably closer to 10 times that number. Well, as it turns out, a estimate brought forth by a recently completed Harvard study shows "hurricane-related" casulties here at "70 times" higher than the make-believe governor and government of Puerto Rico had been putting out for consumption! Our phony governor Rosello was disturbed by the accusations of mass casulties, so he commissioned the study. Well this report shows just how negligent the government has been! Many people have died incredibly slow deaths due the lack of power, water, needed medicine and supplies, and a miniscule federal response to the disaster. I've commented previously on the combination of reasons for what happened and is happening here, simply: a historically and present-day negligent and incompetent local government, and a federal entity that from the top does not really give a damn about the people here. Discrimination? You bet! The evidence is apparent. The Puerto Rico response tops the dismal reply to Katrina (nearly 2,000 deaths), and we all know what that was about. Days after the hurricanes Harvey and Maria struck, $141.8 million in FEMA aid was approved for Texas compared to $6.2 million in aid for Puerto Rico. Eight months on and many people here still do not have power. The fake local government the other day stated that power has been restored to "99%" of the country. This is in order to cover their tracks for the next hurricane season that begins on Friday! Yet, many in numerous areas are still phoning in to local radio stations everyday stating "no luz (power) desde Irma, Maria," and even since August! Because media reports have been dismal and trivalized few know that Maria in Puerto Rico caused the worst "natural disaster" in gringo history.

HOW CAN YOU MEND A BROKEN HEART?
