Queens is denying my request to take a shower in the patient's room. Its not their policy. So, you know that we came over from the ER from Big Island, right? It's not like I can go home to change or bathe. If I go to Ala Moana park and ask the homeless for a towell they will gladly give it so I can shower in the park.
Oh, but they used to have showers for family, they said they closed it down. Really? Why cant off island ppl here for days shower? Because it is a semi... private room...Jack is alone in the room. This is a state run hospital, correct? I pay taxes and work for the State. This hospital is getting thousands a day for Jack being here and you won't give me a towel to take a shower?
I'm sure we will work with you. Work with me? People from Big Island and the Pacific come here all the time....are you telling me they the hospitals policy is not to allow the family members or caretakers shower for as long as they are here?

Ku'ulei Perez When my brother was a patient at Queens, I could stay in a family dwelling short walking distance, provided by Queens and many people donated through places like Mcdonalds who collected donations for these places. It was a room with shower, beds etc. Is that not available now?

I called the concierge and there are no other options outside of getting a hotel room. None. Have your daughter over night a bathing suit care of Jack's room or the concierge & take swim in Ala Moana?

    Our nation is not nearly as strong as it should be. Ignorance and unwellness are rampant. Tons of Kanaka kids are growing up into adulthood right here in Hawai’i without knowing practically anything about being Kanaka.
    That’s not okay.
    We need resources, yes. But more than that, we need strategy. And determination. We need to hit this at every angle, to be creative and make this happen.
    Once we strengthen the lahui in the above areas, no one can stop us.
    Think about it!
    It’s true. Huli is natural.
    So how do WE make this happen?
    Classes? Videos? People going into schools? Or something else, perhaps?
    Think on this, and then comment on what YOU would like to do. With or without money or other resources.
    And then let’s do it!
